I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Philippians 3:14
In a letter to the church in Philippi, Paul uses the analogy of a runner in a race to describe his spiritual journey. He is saying that he is striving, or ‘pressing on,’ towards the goal of knowing and serving Christ. The prize he is referring to is the reward of eternal life with God in heaven.
The calling from God includes all the purposes that God had in mind in saving us. It includes salvation, conformity to Christ, joint-heirship with Him, a home in heaven, and numberless other spiritual blessings.
Philippians 3:14 encourages believers to keep their focus on Christ and to continue striving towards the ultimate goal of eternal life with God, despite the challenges and obstacles they may face along the way.
Remember, as believers, we are not running on the racetrack of life all by ourselves. Thankfully, it is a relay race that includes Jesus as our teammate. Don’t forget that Jesus loves you and wants to see you finish the ultimate relay race.

Prayer of the Day
Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you today with a heart full of gratitude and love. I thank you for your unending grace and mercy, and for the gift of your presence in my life.
As I go about my day, help me to keep my focus on you. Let your light shine in my heart, illuminating my path and guiding my steps. Help me to see you in every person I meet, and to treat them with the love and compassion that you have shown to me.
When distractions come my way, help me to remember that you are my rock and my salvation. Keep my heart and mind centered on you, and let your peace rule in my heart.
Thank you for the gift of your presence in my life. May your love and light shine through me, and may I be a reflection of your grace and mercy to all those around me. Amen.
