“For every look at yourself, take ten looks at Christ.”
—Robert Murray McCheyne, 19th-century Scottish pastor
McCheyne’s phrase, “For every look at yourself, take ten looks at Christ,” is a call for believers to focus more on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ than on their own self-reflection. There is no victory in introspection.
By continually looking to Christ, one can better understand God's will, grow in faith, and become more Christ-like in their thoughts, words, and actions. It is a reminder to keep one's focus on Christ, rather than on one's own self, which can be a source of pride or distraction from the ultimate goal of serving God.
Christ is the ultimate example and model for life. Rather than being overly concerned with your own thoughts, feelings, and desires, look to Christ more than you look within yourself.
In Romans 7:24-25, Paul asks who will save him from life that is dominated by sin and death. His answer? ‘Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.’

Prayer of the Day
Dear Jesus, you are the perfect example of love, compassion, and humility. You lived a life of service, sacrifice, and selflessness. I come to you today, asking that you help me to follow in your footsteps.
Please be my role model, guiding me in all that I do. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you, one that is filled with love, kindness, and generosity. Give me the strength and courage to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult.
Please teach me how to love others as you have loved me. Help me to see the needs of those around me and to respond with compassion and understanding. Give me a heart that is filled with forgiveness, and help me to extend grace to those who have wronged me.
Lord, I know that I am far from perfect. Please help me to grow in my faith and to become more like you each day. Help me to develop the fruits of the Spirit.
Thank you for your endless love and grace. I pray that you will guide me and use me for your glory.
In your precious name, I pray, Amen.
