Our actions should be guided by love, humility and integrity
Believers are encouraged to live a life that honors and glorifies Jesus Christ in all that they do.
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
Colossians 3:17
Colossians 3:17 is part of a larger section in which the Apostle Paul is addressing the Colossian church, encouraging them to live a life worthy of their Christian faith. In this particular verse, Paul emphasizes the importance of conducting all aspects of life—whether in word or deed—in a manner that reflects the character and teachings of Jesus Christ. This includes our daily actions, our conversations, and our work.
By doing everything "in the name of the Lord Jesus," we are acknowledging our allegiance to Christ and striving to live according to His standards. This means that our actions should be guided by love, humility, and integrity, as these are the characteristics that Jesus demonstrated during His time on earth.
Humility is the glue that holds all of the other virtues together. Humility is not about weakness or false modesty, but rather about having an accurate perception of one's abilities and place in the world, and being open to acknowledging mistakes and limitations. It is important to not be overly proud or self-centered.
The phrase "giving thanks through Him" highlights the role of Jesus as the mediator between humanity and God. It is through Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross that we can approach God with gratitude and thanksgiving.
Believers are encouraged to live a life that honors and glorifies Jesus Christ in all that they do, and to express gratitude to God through Jesus for His grace and blessings.

Sunday Prayer
Dear Lord, as we stand at the threshold of a new week, we come to You with hearts filled with gratitude and hope. Thank You for Your unfailing love and the blessings of the past week. We are humbled by Your grace and mercy, which have carried us through each day.
We pray that You would guide us in the week ahead, leading us in Your ways and filling us with Your wisdom and discernment. Grant us the strength and courage to face whatever challenges may arise, knowing that You are always with us.
In this new week, may we seek to honor You in all that we do, living out our faith in word and deed. Help us to be a light to those around us, showing Your love to a world in need.
We pray for our families, friends, and communities, asking for Your protection and provision. May this week be a time of growth and renewal, as we draw closer to You and to one another.
We thank You for the gift of a new week, and we commit it into Your hands. In Jesus' name, we pray.
