21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.
Romans 7:21-25
Romans 7:21-25 discusses the struggle between the desire to do good and the presence of sin within a person. In verse 21, the apostle Paul says that he finds a principle at work within him that when he wants to do good, evil is right there with him. There is a constant battle between the spiritual and the fleshly, the good and the evil.
In verses 22-23, Paul elaborates on this struggle, saying that in his inner being he delights in God's law, but he sees another law at work within his body, waging war against the law of his mind and making him a prisoner of the law of sin at work within his members. There is a conflict between what the spirit desires and what the flesh does.
In verse 24, Paul cries out, "Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?" This shows the desperation and frustration that comes from the struggle against sin.
Finally, in verse 25, Paul gives thanks to God through Jesus Christ, acknowledging that with his mind he serves the law of God, but with his flesh he serves the law of sin. While the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak, and there is a constant need for God's grace and strength to overcome sin.
There is no doubt that there is an ongoing struggle between the desire to do good and the presence of sin within us. Through our struggles, we need God's grace and strength to overcome sin.

Prayer of the Day
Dear Lord Jesus, I come before you today with a humble heart, seeking your divine guidance and strength to overcome the sin in my life. I acknowledge that I am a sinner, and I need your help to break free from the chains sin that hold me captive.
Lord, I know that you came to this world to save sinners like me. You gave your life on the cross so that I may be forgiven and have eternal life. I ask for your forgiveness for my sins and the sins of the whole world. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness and fill me with your Holy Spirit.
Lord, I pray that you would give me the strength to resist temptation and to overcome the desires of flesh. Help me to walk in the Spirit, so that I may not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Teach me to love you with all my heart, soul, and mind, and to love my neighbor as myself. I pray that you would give me the desire to read and meditate on your Word, so that I may grow in my knowledge of you and your ways. Help me to apply your Word to my life, and to live according to your will.
I thank you, Lord, for your love and mercy. I trust in your promises and I believe that with your help, I can overcome sin and live a life pleasing to you.
In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
I start my day with Jesus Always and read the accompanied scripture and that grounds me in faith. And then I practice gratitude for my blessings, from a roof over my head to keeping every member of my immediate family protected, and then I rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus. It keeps me from any desire to sin because the opposite is too good to pass up.
